Sounds like you've already made up your mind. Just think in advance how long you'd want to stay in for and what you would do when you get out. Thank you for your service if you end up joining.

It's not a bad career path. If you're smart you can get good tech jobs and make bank/get certs/get free education/connections for free. Going in as infantry, armor, field artillery, etc will get you nowhere when you get out. It might be fun as hell while you're in but you need to think about the next 8 years, not the just the next 4 that you'll spend inside. Maybe they can help you in law enforcement but that's it.

Take a look into the 25 series, and 35 series. Communications and intelligence respectively. In Intel you can get top secret clearances and that'll help you get amazing government/contractor jobs. Comms you can get IT certifications while you're in and secret/top secret clearances.

The Army is a rewarding career, but not easy, and not for everyone. Talk about building your frame!

Give it 100 percent or not at all.

I think you should join the military because you WANT to join the military. Don't do it from a "I don't know what else to do" stance, otherwise after basic training, you may find yourself wondering what the fuck you were thinking and you can't just give two weeks notice and leave.
