Recently I've come to the realization that I'm a bit of a loser as I'm still a virgin at 21. Now, before I get into my questions, let me give you a bit of context to my situation.
I a grew up in a very religious small town in the Midwest. I didn't really have a normal high school experience. There were only 4 girls in my class, and most were quite religious or conservative, so nobody was really getting laid. Furthermore, I failed to step out of my comfort zone and really go after building a social circle and social skills in nearby schools or communities. Instead, I buried myself in books and sports, assuming that things would just fall into place once I got into College.
Once I got to college, I felt socially stunted and had no game or well developed social skills with women. So, rather than deal with it and improve myself I (like an idiot) buried myself in what was comfortable (ie. books and lifting). This was great in some respects, as I am in great shape and have a 4.0 GPA. I'm not a bad looking guy either, girls would regularly approach and talk to me, but I lacked both the confidence in myself/awareness to escalate, or often assumed they were just being friendly (which, upon looking back, obviously wasn't the case). The few times I did go out, I could usually score a couple makeout sessions but always assumed bringing a drunk girl home was dangerous no matter what. Instead, I would grab her number and forget about it as I dove back into my regular study habits the following day.
I've already wasted high school and now I'm halfway through college and am a 21 year old virgin failure, due to my absolute negligence and unwillingness to push myself out of my social comfort zone. Despite my disappointment in myself, I've began to work on rectifying the issue and have lined up five dates for when I return from the winter break and have begun reading TRP extensively. Even still, I still can't seem to get this feeling of failure out of my head.
For one, won't it affect future success with women, as a sort of pre-selection? How many 9's want to get to know a guy who hadn't lost his virginity until he was 21? If I get in a LTR at some point far down the road, won't she be concerned about that issue, and assume maybe there is some hidden issue with me?
Secondly, I'm a goal oriented individual who pursues things with passion upon setting a goal. My particular goal in life involves going through a very arduous process that involves extensive mental and physical evaluations. Although I've excelled in those two metrics, I can't help but feel like there aren't any dudes who were 21 y/o virgins in the job field. Indicating that I lack some sort of necessary trait that will disqualify my character as a whole.
The other positive, 'post workout' side of me says , "you're only 21. If you pursue becoming proficient in this area the same way you've pursued excelling in others, you will be fine. Don't worry about what other guys have done, just stick to your goal and do work. Maintain your regular schedule, but make some time for dating and approaching ."
That's my head space right now. Basically two conflicting sides. One saying I'll always be slightly more beta than most other guys because I still haven't lost my virginity at 21 and I have created a negative trait that women will not be attracted to as a result of failing to act in time. And the other being the more positive, usually following a workout.
What do you guys think? Am I being overly hard on myself? Am I a loser in need of serious improvement? Should I be concerned about my future career goal and this issue? Will it affect success with women down the road?
Any general thoughts are also greatly appreciated.
Thanks
