My girlfriend recently asked me something important, and my immediate response was to lie. By then it was too late, I could not tell the truth, I doubled down on that lie even though I wanted to come clean. She believed me. I feel extremely guilty about this, and I know I should have told the truth. I hold her to such a high standard with her behavior, it makes me feel terrible if I can just lie to her face like that. My question is, should I come clean and tell her the truth? Or is it better to just tell the truth next time, and not confess lies to women (due to losing frame or credibility, etc)
