Buy classic durex condoms, not the featherlight variants. Also dont go with the cheap ones, the lube is worse. I know what you mean, in the end it is mostly a mental problem. You'll notice when you date a girl longer the problem disappears, the tension is off. I think it is caused mostly by tension ('oh I hope I have a hard one long enough') Then it drops immediately unfortunately.

What helps is practice, not being drunk, having them in reach of your bed and especially not overthinking.
