Start asking him questions and becoming genuinely interested in what he's saying. Engage him in conversation. Whoever is asking the questions is controlling the interaction. Don't "interview" him though, just be interested in his story and life.

He'll keep trying to ask her a question or tell her something, just keep making him address you, or even engage her even more in the conversation (making it almost seem like you're helping him). What is he going to do, be a huge dick to you for asking innocent questions and being friendly? That'd definitely fuck it up for him. Usually the guy realizes what's happening when it's too late.

Sometimes i'll steer him into a trap. This one guy was talking to me and my girl about how he's a yoga instructor and shit, trying to make himself sound cool (looking at her when speaking).

I started asking about yoga, steered him into bragging about what poses he could do. I eventually ask "can you planche?" He of course says "yea". Then i say "with straight arms?" He sheepishly says "no...". I just let the silence linger and let someone else speak first.

He basically put all his value into yoga, and i got him to admit he's not really as good at it as he makes it seem. This was pretty ridiculous how he played right into my hands though. Not typical.

Btw i'll go out of my way to introduce them if i think there might be this issue. It's the opposite of mate guarding and shows you don't see him as a threat (aka that you're higher smv). They'll also categorize him as "wise turd's friend". Hope this helps.

Laugh friendly and tell them “it sounds like you’re pretty proud of it!” You subtly called him out. You can suggest that’s all he can talk about in a number of ways. Compliment him on his “pretty good intro” and laugh. Remember it’s the alpha who gives compliments without being excited.
