It prevents you from having integrity and from being real. It is a coping mechanism for a weak person, who would rather cheat and lie than actually become stronger or more competent.

Ever hear of the slippery slope? It's a fallacy but also can be an excellent heuristic when you're cautious about us application.

Lie about small things, and the small things become larger. Eventually your mouth is writing checks that your ass can't cash.

Manipulation on the other hand, I see nothing wrong with. It's part of human nature as far as I'm concerned.
