If there is a weak aspect of my life right now it is my social network. In the last couple of years nearly all of my closest male friends have relocated to other states. Now, at 33 I have very few people in close proximity that I consider true friends. I have several "acquaintances" but not men who I connect with on that deeper level. (I still am close with my friends who have moved, I just rarely see them now.)

Add to the equation, the fact that I gave up alcohol about 8 months ago.

My question is this: How do I forge true meaningful friendships with other men. How do I get beyond the acquaintance stage?

To address many of the responses I think I'd get, I'm taking kickboxing classes 2x/week, pottery class 1x/week, and doing meetups (cribbage and dodgeball soon) when ever possible.

Thank you all...
