First of all, I know this isn't necessarily the most informative place for me to get this information but this would be the one place where I would trust this advice came from.

I broke up with my BPD gf a while back but have kept my lines open to help her through a tough patch in her life. Many would tell me to leave and not give a fuck but as being someone who's dealt with a father who committed suicide, I do not want this to happen to another individual. There's always the possibility of lying to get back with me but with how everything has gone down, this being a falsified story is very unlikely.

Classic BPD story, childhood trauma, and tough upbringing. Her older half-sister was raped by her dad for a couple years when she was just entering her teens and my ex was 4-5 around the time. He went to jail and ex and her 2 sisters were put into foster care for around a year or so which obviously lead to some abandonment issues and daddy issues.

She had a repressed memory moment a couple of months before we broke up regarding a situation about where she was molested as a kid by a friend of her dad's, which screwed her up. Something happened recently where she's been extremely distraught and she talks in between the lines about how no one could understand what she's going through and the fact she can't talk to her older sister about it. Bottom-line is, she made it very obvious that she was molested by her dad as a child. To what extent? That I do not know.

She's attempted suicide probably 5-6 times in the last 2 months and is an absolute mess. Drinks every day and has a lot of people trying to help her but nothing seems to be working. I can't seem to help her out and have pushed my self out of the situation to protect my sanity as my life is pretty stressful in itself but has been involved with trying to get her help to an extent.

At this point, it seems like mostly everyone in her life has given up on her including her friends and family. Though she won't disclose the reason why to anyone else as she thinks they'll link what happened to her sister and know it was her dad that molested her. She fears breaking up her family but won't get help for what has happened. She never mentions it when she's sober but when I get a call when she's drunk she'll likely spill the beans.

I have no intention of ever getting back with her but I can't help but feel absolutely devasted for another human being going through something like this right now. What do I do in this situation? How do I help out a fellow human being who is suffering? I know the best thing for me to do is leave for myself but my conscious won't let me. I feel like if I let her suffer and something happens to her, it'll just eat me up considering what happened with my dad.

Sorry for this massive fucking wall of information. I tried to keep it as brief as possible. I won't include a TL;DR as the situation requires context so if anyone takes the time to read this, thank you very much.
