This is the problem Im facing- I got friendzoned by a 10/10 who i used to hook up with. She had the job i wanted, life i wanted, and literally a 10/10 body. Im a 6-7/10 guy so i dont know how that happened.

Her moving on/pushing me away sent me into a spiral downward with this thought stuck in my head: Im never gonna be able to score that again, lightning never strikes twice in the same spot. This on top of me not taking care of myself led me to see my first psychiatrist and has lead to some dark thoughts, even suicidal.

So since then ive made changes to my life- quit drinking, joined a gym, and worked toward my career. When i do those things, that worry washes away and doesnt stress me out 7/10 of the time but the thoughts are still there. However i find with each day keeping this disciplined lifestyle im overall a better person.

My question: should this idea (ill never be able to hook up with a girl that caliber again) really devastate me as much as it should? When i get the exercise high, or when i reach new career goals, i feel positivity and dont think about her. But sometimes, i am overcome with a feeling of dread that all my efforts are pointless because hooking up with that girl was the highest point of my life and none of my other successes will trump it. Is this my lizard brain talking, are my worries realistic or am i being irrational?

To add, since ive quit drinking (heavy drinker past 8 years) ive been told that i have to re learn how to cope with loss, and my emotions are greater because id suppress everything with drinking before.

Thanks guys, T
