Paranoid about being beta.

Do or don't do, there is no try. When you try to be alpha, you just come off like every other beta. After all, plenty betas go through life talking themselves up and deluding themselves into thinking they are "alpha" and command respect and such and such. Every beta is "trying to be alpha" except for the segment who have just given up and accepted their fate.

Just define alpha and what it personally means to you. Conceive of how you as an alpha male would look, behave, and act like on a conscious and subconscious level. Be loyal to the conception for the rest of your life. Do it justice and you will be the most "alpha" version of yourself that you can potentially be. This is the best that most people can aspire to - alphas are simply people who are atop the sexual / social pyramid. You may or may not be able to make that climb. So what you want to do is define how you would act and live and be if you were atop that pyramid - and just be that way, as if you were already there.

That is the difference between alphas and betas - betas can only behave in alpha ways if they bumblefuck their way into massive success and power. They spend their whole lives "trying" to be the man, and they only give themselves permission to be the man when they have the great job, the social standing, the body, the expensive wardrobe, etc. Alphas can behave like that when they are pre-success, when they are just teens or young adults. They can act with confidence, power, aggression, discipline, etc before they have gained the success necessary to justify such behavior.

Lurk more on the main sub and read about "being alpha". It's not about a particular set of actions you ought to do, it's a frame, a way of being. If you're paranoid about it, try to boost your self confidence (= lifting m8).

It's too difficult to really choose one or the other, measure on results.

You set out to be alpha, you end up doing something beta. Look at the results, and calibrate your behavior.

In truth, there are somethings you will do that are "beta" that will be benign. And you never want to be 100% alpha anyway. So don't be afraid just act and calibrate.

Any time you find yourself worried about being beta, realize that choosing your actions based on the perceived reactions of others is as beta as it gets. Ask yourself what you want, and if it doesn't directly interfere with someone else's happiness, proceed in that direction.

The only cure is unwavering confidence. Don't judge yourself for any single response or encounter, but your general pattern of what drives you each day.
