LONG VERSION: Prom sort of crept up on me out of nowhere and now it's less than 2 weeks away. No girlfriend or plates at the moment, so no go to person to ask. There are a few possibilities at my school, but this close to prom, most/all of the cute ones are likely taken. Should I try my luck with strangers (pickup at public places or using friends to find someone from another school, etc.) or would it maximize my efforts to stay in my school? Finally, I'm not one for the whole corny ass thing where you do a "promposal". I'd prefer just plain asking, but I don't know to what extent that will effect my chances.

SHORT VERSION: I need a prom date within two weeks, preferably within one, and most attractive girls at my school are already taken. Need a recommended course of action.
