Women ultimately lose the game of SMV. At ~28, they hit the "wall". They expire sexually and they experience a rapid decline in SMV. They are no longer top priority for men but remain in denial for a while about their declining attractiveness. For some time, she'll try to lock down a chad but if that doesn't work she will lock down a beta for a long period of time. Male smv increases steadily until ~55 at the latest. Attractive Women are in demand and wise/powerful men are in demand, that's what causes the difference.
Women's function is concerned with the species overall, Man's function is concerned with the tribe. Women are wired to propagate the genes of the highest value male they can find and can take great liberties in this area in a society with muted consequences.
I think you're equivocating the "alpha" concept. There's two meanings, the apex male of the group and a set of behaviors that make you attractive to women; so this quesiton has two answers depending on what you're referring to. In one sense, no not all man can be in the top X% of males. In another, yes all men can behave a certain way but the standards for high value men would adjust for that.
The short answer is that women go haywire when they don't live inside of a male frame, it's not their fault. The true nature of women is hedonistic. They are very instinctual and trust their emotions to guide them. Men possess a kind of agency that women do not; keep in mind that there are always exceptions. Religion and societal values used to act as the frame necessary for Women to act at their best. Without it they descend into chaos and misery. Individual pleasure and freedom is god for western society now, that's not a good condition for women. If they are functioning within a hierarchical construct, then it helps them check their behavior against the potential consequences from the group. They cannot, on average, develop an internal set of values themselves.
Attention drives the Status of a woman. Status drives the Attention of a Man. Women need attention to know how attractive they are; what kind of men they are capable of picking up; the level and quantity of men define the Status of women. For Men, the more elevated you status (money, power, physique, etc), the more attention you get from women which is necessary to screw them. It can work in reverse a bit, that's how preselection goes.

Yes.
Because men can have multiple children simultaneously while women can only have one at a time, so from their perspective, they'd rather get the desired father for their children than miss out and have to settle for a loser.
That's not how the bell curve works.
Because they're the emotional gender. The hamster is a real thing.
It's important for men as well, but women tend to focus on one particular guy more than guys hone in on a single woman.
