I've done this, I pulled a old HDD from my first computer and found all my IM chat logs.

Looking at it now, my beta nice guy behavior sickened me. I couldn't believe the pedestal I built for some of these girls, only to be crushed later. I completly understand why I never succeeded and why after each rejection would anger me after doing everything society 'taught' me about girls.

I was drunk and came back home the other night and for some reason looked at my messages from a year ago. Oh god I've changed so much for the better.

Sometimes I read old chat logs outloud directly to old flings to re-ignite some nostalgic lust.

Good stuff, if done right.

I have chat logs from up to 8 years ago, and when looking through them a bit, i do see some mistakes, as would be typical, but nothing too cringeworthy.

Not going to lie but seriously most the time I'm impressed with myself. Obviously there is the occasional cringe.
