High school senior. I've had a few relationships in the past but have never faced rejection until now. Met a girl through our mutual (female) friend about 3 weeks ago, started texting regularly about last week, asked her out and got a very long-winded rejection over the course of the next few hours. Haven't talked to her since then but based on what my friend told me she's probably planning on giving me a "just friends" talk soon.

I was hanging out with this chick in group settings on a semi-regular basis and most of my friends enjoyed being around her. I'm well aware of the TRP consensus on drugs but we occasionally smoke weed and do psychedelics, and I was basically this girl's only access to these things, and it was something she expressed an interest in doing again.

I've seen a lot of conflicting debate on TRP about the friendzone. I would be okay with "staying friends" with her but I do have a few concerns. I'm worried that she may only value the friendship for access to drugs, and I absolutely am not going to pull some beta orbiter shit where she leeches me for free shrooms. However, the other hand I could potentially see is that if she asks to spend time with me and I refuse, this perceived anger at her implies a lack of self-confidence and could also be seen as beta, not just to her but to my friends who enjoyed being around her as well. What are TRP's thoughts on rejection and the friendzone?
