How do you know the correct way to pass a shit test, and know which ballpark the correct answer is?

Example, a previous LTR a few uears ago had moved schools, and I had asked her if she had made any friends. And she said yea lots, she reckoned she was popular there. Then she says, 'I've been asked out a a lot lately actually hehe' and since we were an long distance at the time, not sure what she meant by the remark, I said 'Do you want to date them?' And she said 'Why would I when I've got you?' And I said 'You know it gorgeous' and she giggled.

Now, could I have passed that shit test with greater strength, if I did oass it at all initially, and if so how? Thank you for your responses!
