Why is there so much hatred against gaming on IM?
Cons:
You're starting with the lower hand, you're investing and your interest can't be masked, it isn't cost effective in time.

Pros:
There's plenty of DHVs you can throw plus since we're all internet geeks writing serves us all well. You have time to think answers, you can think if something is a shit test, you can bust it. It's far easier to be witty. Make the intention clear early on so you don't have to "risk the effort you've made that far" to bring sexual tension afterwards.

I've always seen texting for long as a solid choice for someone who's not outcome independent and needs to build some self confidence. Plus he can start talking to like five at the same time and he'll only really need one.
Much like PUA, seems fair as long as you don't strive for becoming an expert on that instead of the real deal.

I'm biased pro because I had my first time with a girl from a chatroom, not even tinder, and otherwise it would only happen with a LTR for me. And I only could LTR girls on the 5 or 6 range.

It seems, to me, since folks don't have (I didn't have) any more effective way to spend their "picking girls" time, going online allowed me to:
-Have outcome independence (I could state intentions early on);
-Not scare her away AFTER she clicked interest on looks by lack of initiative;
-SHE couldn't read my body language and nervousness;
-I could raise her interest levels enough to buy me the right to some awkwardness in person;
-Her interest in going out was IOI enough to grant me some confidence in taking chances and initiate kino escalation instead of waiting for cherubin to tell me it was time.

I'll never question that it's a shitty way to go for it, shitty reasons, wastes time and resources, but we're talking of starters here.

To OP:
Not quite talking about the post, you don't have a lot of outcome independence, texting HER for number is better.
