Hi, recently discovered TRP and I've since been focusing on improving myself.

One of my biggest weaknesses, for a lack of a better term, is 'slow thinking'. When I'm speaking to somebody or learning something new, I find it takes me a lot longer to process information than normal. My brain also focuses on insignificant details, ignoring the bigger picture, and just asks way too many questions.

Example 1: I recently learned how to drive manual/stick shift, however it took me a lot longer than normal to get a hang of it (my instructor and friends thought it was strange). I almost thought driving just wasn't for me but I didn't give up. While learning I would ask myself too many questions, such as what physically happens with the clutch plate as you change gears and why it was designed that way, rather than just follow simple instructions.

Example 2: When I was exploring different careers, I shadowed at a hospital. I would wonder about insignificant things like why surgeons wear the scrub colour they wear, or why one doctor is wearing a blue shirt when all others are wearing a white shirt, or even why a certain room has a digital clock but others have analogue. My brain just takes a deep interest in all of this.

Background: 22, final year of my engineering degree. I'm at the top of my class, always been since middle school, especially in maths based subjects. However I feel my brain is barely awake outside of studies and is wasting all its energy on insignificant details rather than focusing on the problem at hand. I feel slow in social interactions which I feel comes off as having a tired/indifferent attitude.

Has anyone else felt like this? What did you do to overcome it?
