I have been living the life of a white knight. Events over the last 3 years have caused me to completely rethink manhood. I am working my way though The Rational Male. Married for 15+ years. Started my first plate 5 weeks ago, working my wife into a plate, I'm really not sure what to do with her. There are kids, it isn't messy yet.
This weekend I offered her a chance to spend time with me. It would mean she would need to get a babysitter. Her response was, "would you call my mom and ask her to watch the kids?" My reply was an amused, "I'm not your secretary. ". She bowed her head as if she had been slapped, and said, "yes, sir". I replied, "I'm not your father either. If you want the time, I can keep this open for you until Sunday evening. If I don't hear from you, I'll schedule something else. "
So, point being, for me this is a step. I'm celebrating. But also, if there are those who have navigated this path, any advice or critique is welcome.
