Background: I have ridiculously bad teeth. To get graphic, I have multiple abscesses and five are gone (I know it's not normal). I make less than $20,000 year, at a job I'm trying to leave for better opportunities once I have more marketable skills, and the surgeries I need cost a minimum of over $15,000. This was the estimate given to me by the New York College of Dentistry.

Thing is, having visibly bad teeth puts people off. Most people don't take me seriously if I smile or do anything that shows my teeth.

I have no way of fixing my teeth in the foreseeable future. But to do any sort of business (unless I build my own website by learning programing) people have to be able to take me seriously. To have any sort of healthy connection with people they need to be able to take me seriously (even though I'm quickly losing the idea that friends actually exist and social interaction is simply an extension of game).

Questions:

  1. Does anyone on this sub has advice on this situation, such as routes I've overlooked for getting my teeth in check?

  2. Ways for giving people a reason to take me seriously despite my situation?

  3. Am I mistaken that this makes my smv shot to the deepest depths of smv hell?
