I have been reflecting on my dating experiences over the past several years.

In most instances, I speculate that plates broke from a perceived lack of commitment. In almost every instance, the breaking of the plate was preceded by some very close variation of the words, “idk where this is going/what are we” with a layer of bitchiness.

I usually can’t be bothered when they leave because I keep multiple cards in my back pocket and my career consumes all my energy at the moment. But I think this is a suboptimal strategy when the objective is to keep a girl around as long as possible.

I’ve been trying a new strategy, which I call dangling the “commitment carrot.” where I just tell them what they want to hear. When they bring up the inevitable “what are we” talk I say something like “baby of course I love you blah blah blah.” Or I whisper commitment sweet nothings in their ear after we’re done fucking. Once I know they’re happy I just go back to being my normal aloof self until the next fire I have to put out.

So far the results have been great. The downside obviously is if I actually begin believing in what I’m saying. Which I recognize but I’m doubtful will happen.

Im curious if anyone has done something similar? I feel like the general zeitgeist here is to be a total alpha with no compromise, and beta characteristics are viewed with extreme disdain. But it seems like many women like some mixture. Too much one way or the other and the fishing line snaps.
