Got hired by a company with a temporary contract for 6 months. The deal was that in month 3 i would get a rise. I heard nothing from them, now 1 month before the expiration they called me for a meeting.

Their complains:

  • I am not pro active (well i just do what they tell me to do, it’s not my task to start to work on projects i am not assigned too)
  • My code is not high quality because sometimes i said something was finished while it was missing some details. (I think this can happen to everyone
  • i am too much calling (lie! In 5 months i was maybe 5 time on phone)
  • I use too much the phone which lets me distract (truth, because there was not 8 hours work to be done)
  • after one of the project had started I said there was nothing i could work on (not that i refused to), because it was all design stuff (for my colleague) or projects i never worked at

They told me they will renew my contract for 3 months with no rise.

In my opinion these are all excuses to put me in standby. I think this because after the first month we had a meeting where they congratulated me on how good i am. They had to deliver a project for September which took longer and the customer has yet to decide if we will have to work on v2.0 of the project, so i think they want to keep me to see if the customer renews the project I am there, if not they can lick me out.

What’s your advice on how to behave? I am planning to leave in any case (have already some offers)
