When you boil it down to its most simple terms, there is a single mission statement for each:
TRP---improve yourself and get poon
MGTOW---stop being controlled by poon
While these two camps always seem to be at war with each other, I think being a bit of a hybrid would be the best way to go.

I am just trying to cope man. I have a coworker and she is living life as someone her age should, I see other 20 year old people doing the same and it fucking gets to me. I am just trying to figure out a way to manage and I the only options I see are trp and MGTOW. I am about 4-5, years delayed in regards to relationships and I don't want to be 25 a fat miserable cuck crying because the girl I like is fucking everyone and I can't get one piece of ass.
I can either try to be the one physically fucking or cut off the possibility of me being emotionally fucked.
Either way one of those two options will help prevent me from killing myself on my 21st birthday. Just some improvement of mind or body will help me.

You can't accept that you are ugly and lazy and give up. You are 20 years old, for God sake! It's fucking easy to loose weight and become stronger at this age.

You can be both. MGTOW doesn't mean "Virgin-TOW", it just means you have your own purpose in life. You stop worshiping women, but it doesn't prevent you from living the best life you can, and having women in your life, on your terms.
I'd never call myself a MGTOW, but I have a live-in gf for 7 years, she moved to 2 diff major cities across the US with me because I wanted to be there. I'll never get married because we already live the married life and I have nothing to gain from signing a gov't document - that's having a relationship on your terms.
TRP: It helps you see what's "real" out there and what's hollywood fantasyland, and helps you make decisions with real information.
You at age 20, you have A LOT of time to lose some weight and improve your SMV. I'm in my mid 30's, also 6 feet and overweight at 220 lbs. I like my life and my relationship. Wish I had more friends though, but friends are tougher to make after getting out of school, and moving around.

I'd say put in the effort and see what happens. It would be a shame to never see how far you could have gone. MGTOW will always be an option, but it always seemed like it was for those that just gave up.
