I'm starting to notice that I tend to put too much trust into people's words.

It takes me a very long time to feel like I can trust people to have my back. It seems like people around me spend most of the time fighting to get me to trust them enough to let my guard down around them. Then, the second I do without fail they do some stupid shit that's blatantly disrespectful. I call them out and they eventually apologize and hope that fixes everything.

At that point what the fuck does the apology mean though? You talking that good shit is what got you into the position where I trusted you enough NOT to do some stupid shit. Why the fuck would I let you talk your way back into that position? Obviously I don't say it that curtly the message is "we're cool, but I can't trust you to have my back right now"

I make that much clear and all of the sudden I don't believe and second chances and I'm sensitive and should have said something sooner and blah blah blah

The only people this doesn't happen with are the people that I always keep at arms length, and the people I grew up with that know I don't stick around with people who pull that shit.

I suppose the first part was just me venting. How do you deal with this shit as a man. Do you just stop letting new people in once you finish middle school?
