The Narrator has become so disillusioned to the point of mental illness because he feels he has no control over his life. Tyler is the man the Narrator creates who is free.

Becoming like Tyler means becoming free from as much as you can. Being a truly independent man. Not having to put up with bullshit at work because you need the job, etc. True independence.

You do that by being smart and taking care of yourself. Lifting, good diet, good sleep, and reducing how "over-stimulated" we generally all are by TV/movies/online social media, etc. as a starting place. Learn to tune out all the shit that distracts us. Then start putting your time and energy into consistent efforts that will yield a return on what you invest, especially financially. Like it or not, money drives life. So work to build financial independence. Savings, investments, etc. Build a "fuck you" fund so you can safely tell any job "fuck you" and walk out if you need to. Something to hold you over until you have new revenue streams.

In the movie/book, the whole story is about establishing your own self as a stronger, independent individual. Not just another cog in someone else's machine, not just another modern slave to society. The overlap with TRP in it, in my opinion, is that the book attacks many of the same things that are ultimately driven by radical feminism, just like we do here. And it offers the same advice to overcome feminism - focusing on building yourself first as a man, instead of letting your efforts go to building someone else or a woman. And what more basic thing to draw out manhood than basic fighting?

So you'll know you're getting close to the Tyler Ideal when you're fit, you're financially and emotionally independent of needing others.

Fight Club is a novel/movie made in the 90s that touches on male disillusionment in modern society. Yes, it has a lot of "truth" in it, but it's still just a novel.

Tyler Durden is not real. Shit, he's not even real in the novel/movie. He's the narrator's psychotic projection of himself (read: dissociative identity disorder). But if you want to be more like the character... Lift, read books that help you grow, fix your diet, stop doing stupid meaningless things that waste your time, have a sense of purpose, and follow your mission. The typical TRP prescription.
