Few days into college. I've been lifting, dressing well, acting charismatic, will be on a sports team soon and have performed a guitar song in front of hundreds of people at a talent show, so IMO my SMV is decently high. I've got IOI's from a few girls.

I realize this is going to sound like oneitis, which it unfortunately is. I want advice on this situation: HB 7-8 girl, super shy, hangs out with a weird/nerdy crowd that I'm into. She herself seems really reserved. First time I introduced myself to her she seemed pretty uninterested. Next couple times we've talked, she's seemed more animated and asks questions back, smiles and waves, though doesn't reciprocate basic kino I've given like shoulder taps, etc.. I asked her where she was sitting for lunch, but she told me she was at some small table that was already full and didn't offer to make room for me... My SMV is without a doubt higher than hers, yet she's been hanging out with other guys who are quiet like her and have lower SMVs than me.

At this point I'm confused about SMV and if I should even bother escalating and asking her out. What would you do in my situation? Keep in mind this is an engineering-focused school, so a lack of hot girls is an understatement. Thanks.
