Hello all,

My parents are married, and have been for over 25 years. During that time they have had two kids, myself being the youngest of two lads.

I'm over the drinking age of 18, but during my childhood I've had many conflicts with my Dad. I've never been huge, and at my lowest point I came accross this sub and it changed my perspective for the better. Forced me to go to the gym, which gave me confidence to be more ballsy, which has led to a high status in my family despite being the youngest.

I use to get kicked out and hit a lot, I found my Dad doing things he shouldn't on the PC and I believe he has blamed me - but never talked to me about it.

Personally, my mum got desperate to marry, so she settled with my Dad. She didn't get to know him well enough, which has caused the last 20+ years to be a larger misery. It has also caused me to take the most of it (Emotional manipulation, and physical abuse), which has led to a divide in the family.

I'm not being a pussy and saying kids shouldn't be hit or disciplined. I'm saying it should have been done correctly, I use to be about 5"1 at 40kg... my dad 6ft at 80~ so it wasn't exactly even. I wouldn't misbehave outrageously, for example, if I was late to school, or I answered back to him. Discipline is essential, sure, but as a parent you automatically asume authority, so you don't need to hit your kids to get them to hear what you're saying. Instead, it's pushed me away a lot, it's as if I'm the person he wanted to be.

Long story short, my Mum is going to see a solicitor regarding divorce. I doubt anything will happen at all, as she tried to "sort things out" today, despite me being hit, kicked out many times, shouted at and my shit broken. Usually for things that weren't my fault, or talking back it him because I was sick of his constant shit to all of us. He also emotionally manipulates my Mum, which is the point of this post.

He constantly talks down to all of us, shouts at us, causes arguments for no reason, pushes every friend they've had away from being a cu*t basically. Then tries to blame me or my brother for everything, and when we actually defend ourselves, he gets really angry (for no reason) and will slam doors, throw shit around... losing his frame.

Despite all this childish bullshit, my mum has only now thought of divorce. But why can't she see he's manipulative? And despite me getting hit, kneed in the bottom of my spine (tailbone?) until I had a limp, my screens broken... she stays?

I've been here a while, and I get they work on feelz not facts, but honestly it pains me to watch her hamster this as "he's been okay this weekend... must be stressed" or "It's because he's not getting enough sleep". He sleeps more than I do for fuck sake!
