Best way to respond to a passive move, is being even more passive. Act like he doesn't exist too.

This said, there's always a reason for ghosting someone, probably he just really hates your guts.

To answer this(i’m in this situation right now too,so this is my 2cent),be busy to improve yourself,you not obligated to be a good friends with anyone(nor he is),and that’s okay.People change,your best friend in high school,may not your best friend right now.You don’t need to explain or asking him why,but it’s back at you.

If you actually used to be “good friends” and not just superficial acquaintances that were nice to each other, I’d be upfront. Have I done something to offend you? If he’s not upfront back, then just drop and forget.
