Here's the catch. A&A doesn't work for men.

A&A is tempting, somehow for most people it's also the easier way to pass shit tests. A lot of people get the knack of it quite fast.

For women, it's funny, dismissive and it displays confidence. Men read it like evading the subject, though if you manage a powerful punchline they might let you go unpunished.

When you're dealing with men, you might want to address the subject, mainly if they're above you. No need to Alpha the shit out of everything, most guys aren't gaming you, they're trying to build something.
If you're under strike though, you go for the solutions that break your opponent's frame. Pressure flips are a must. If you can address the subject quickly AND pressure flip, you usually gain territory.
Before you get the knack of it you can memorize a single line, quick to speak, justification for your easy targets and use some easy pressure flip sentence. "I wonder why you bother.", "how come you're so different?". That stuff.
