While the most logical thing to do against a feminist is to walk the fuck away, sometimes there are myths feminists love to bring up and you are either kind of obliged to take a stand (debate/class...). Here are some myths debunked:
The wage gap: In this patriarchal society employers pay women 75 cents for a dollar a male earns. Except it doesn't, economists have proven time and again that there is practically no wage gap whatsoever, the 75 or 77 cents thing was calculated based on women's average pay and men's average pay without taking into consideration some very important variables such as education, worked hours, difference in occupations, positions... When these factors are accounted for, the wage gap becomes technically null.
1/5 of college women will be assaulted: If that's the case American colleges are more dangerous for women then Syria... In reality, this striking number came from a research conducted by National Institute of Justice from 2005 to 2007; its major flaw? “The estimated 19% sexual assault rate among college women is based on a survey at two large four-year universities, which might not accurately reflect our nation’s colleges overall. In addition, the survey had a large non-response rate, with the clear possibility that those who had been victimized were more apt to have completed the questionnaire, resulting in an inflated prevalence figure.”
There you have it, the next time you hear about the wage gap you may want to correct their info just for the sake of watching their confused face
