I feel you man... For clubs and nightlife take a look at the RSD inner circle meetup forum. If you're still in Chi or a big city it doesn't hurt to look. I am in a much smaller midwest city and there was only about 10 guys on it. 1 or 2 seemed ok but I still haven't actually met any of them. Maybe you can find some cool dudes or maybe even some older guys who are down go spend some cash. You never know

Maybe a dance class. Not only will you learn how to dance but they will often have outings where they go out and show off their moves which will put you center stage with good social proof

Part-time job at a bar/club?

Find a chill spot like a pool hall or something you like withing walking distance of your place and befriend everyone there and the staff to become a regular. Then you have a good hangout and place to take dates where you have status.

I often think about this same thing and these are some things that I always come to and will try when I get a place in the city

Go by yourself. Look for a group with more girls than guys. Preferably no guys. Introduce yourself and ask where they're from. Ask questions. Soon you'll be part of the group. Bring up another spot nearby and say "Have you ever been to (place)? We should go!" Focus in on one girl but still talk to all of them. The rest is up to you.
