Depends on a lot of factors to be honest.

But a chick that asks me that turns me off.

1) Look at her with disgust/disappointment. Eye roll, sigh.

2) Say Venture capital. (Or whatever high status thing you actually do)

3) And end the conversation.

She may or may not chase, but I usually don't give a fuck.

As a general rule for that question, downplay what you do if it's impressive, because being a possible provider is usually not what you want to impress her with. (Unless you're doing seeking arrangement game)

Now if you live with 5 other guys or some other stuff you're trying to hide - being deceptive is the wrong move. The character you want to lean on is lovable loser. Most of these chicks are used to fucking up and coming rappers and/or weed dealers.
