I have had a number of plates over the years that broke before I would have liked them to.

Usually, its because they decide they want something "serious" and smartly assume I am not a candidate for this. When this happens, I can usually re-ignite when the relationship eventually ends.

But there have also been a number of hot, fun, convenient plates that just break for seemingly no reason. They just check out. The attitude towards me changes even though I can be fairly certain nothing in my behavior warranted it.

Usually when this happens, I will reach out in a couple months again. Sometimes this will lead to sex, sometimes it will lead to excuses, sometimes it will even lead to hostility and/or blocking.

This seems to be a universal experience, that no matter how great of a plate, it won't spin forever.

My question is simply, why do plates break?
