This has happened to me multiple times with multiple women. I will be hanging out with a chick, and invariably she starts talking how some guy is awkwardly trying to win her affection.

Some examples (xy being a nondescript male name):

  • (looks at her phone) oh haha xy is talking to me on facebook (quotes him, invariably some beta shit)
  • I think xy is mad at me.... I like going to bookstores with him, but I think he wants more and I kinda friendzoned him
  • "xy is so weird, I had to work with him once and he kept singing his answers to me"

I don't invite these topics in conversation, and my response is invariably "why are you talking about this". My questions are:

  • 1.: Any way I can proactively deter these conversations? I don't care much for cringing at mutual "friends"
  • 2.: I got the feeling these are shit tests, and the wrong answer could be "oh I would never do that". I usually respond very sarcastically "how could that NOT work" or something along these lines. What's a better answer?
  • 3.: Why the fuck are they doing this?
