Edit: [Work Related] Female-dominated Hierarchy Wasting Time?

I work in a prestigious higher-ed. Four years in and I've had one promotion. My two direct bosses are females, and my two central bosses are females. The bosses of my bosses are also females. As you can see, we really take pride in diversity in higher-ed.

I had a central admin meeting last week. The room had four levels of hierarchy. I belonged to the bottom rung and the majority. Oh yeah, everybody else in the room was a woman. I prepared for this meeting so I was particularly invested and hyper-aware of the agenda.

Meeting starts with food and buzzing gossip. Immediately turns to Trump and how horrible he is. Fiscal director telling everybody that labor laws will not exist soon and they'll be working 60 hour weeks for the same pay. Some real shit, some real real shit. I grinned, laughed when the room laughed, nodded when people talked to me, and kept my fucking mouth shut.

We finally got around to the first agenda item, a short presentation. Fiscal director got some props from the presenter, and so started giving props back. Presentation turned into a back-and-forth between presenter and fiscal director. Very interesting TEDx level stuff, I happily soaked it up rather than face heat in a business-style meeting. About a half hour in, I realized that the meticulously prepared agenda was going to take some damage due to time restrictions. By the end of the meeting, the presentation had exceeded our scheduled time by 5 minutes, and so we took AN ADDITIONAL 10 MINUTES to cover "the most important" items off of the agenda.

The central manager was visibly shaken that an ego-stroking presentation took precedent over her entire agenda. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a group of women managed to bullshit their way through a one hour, bi-yearly central meeting. This meeting is usually spoken about with fear of being publicly called out, and I could tell that our new central manager (feminist, 5'8 250lb) had every intent to do so.

Does anybody think this happened because of the gender of the room? Would a meeting with a hierarchy of men go to waste like this one did?
