Dressing well is a very common topic on TRP, and so is having a high status. I'm surprised the effects of wearing a suit is rarely addressed. Well I'm young, and for the first time in my life, I had to wear one. And it has a huge effect. Maybe it is out of luck, maybe it is out of placebo, but people actually engaged conversations with me during the day (I do not consider myself as a weirdo, but it is not common, especially where I am from, in France where people usually like to stay in their social circle). I was lost and i asked strangers for directions, 3 young girls, and they went out of their way to help me, even walking with me to the right section while chatting and all, even though i noticed their auto-pilot response was "huuuh idk where it is". Again, in France, you rarely get beyond the auto-pilot response, only in the US, i've noticed you can get people to help you like that. I also got more of attention in general. The eyes of women were more likely to point toward me. The whole day, all my interactions with strangers were warmer, like if the "i'm afraid of strangers" barrier was not an issue. So i felt this was a powerful tool to get into talking with everyone. People trust you more and it shows high status. Although, you can't wear the full costume for casual events,but i've noticed people wear semi-suits in casual environments (just the jacket and a nice pant and shoes that fit with it). What are your thoughts on it ? I feel like i'm going to wear it a lot more.
