Hey guys,
I am a guy who is 22 about to turn 23. When I was younger I would say. I was pretty good with girls/popular in in school. A move to a different city brought up some I guess social anxiety issues that I have been dealing with for since I was about 14 - 15. When I was younger I had the opportunity to do my kissing, gaming, and even almost had sex but chickened out because I thought I was going to get her pregnant.
Since then I have had middling success in pickup. I feel no problem talking to girls, making them laugh, teasing (I think) etc but I guess I have two problems 1) I dwell on positive experiences even if they lead nowhere 2) I have a real scarcity of women in my life.
One thing that I am really afraid of is being thought of as creepy or needy which stops me from escaping girls who are I believe could be interested. This also stops me from approaching since I care about other people's thoughts. At clubs bars I get girls who will hover around me but talking to them is a hit or miss. Even when it's a "hit" and the girl wants to do more than introductions I still don't know how to bring her back or get her on a date. I have never been on a REAL date.
I have friends and we socialize and they are supportive but I don't know why other guys can have sex/girlfriends and I can't. I think I am good at socializing but I have issues escalating, approaching and maybe even reading signals from interested women.
How does someone like me learn to be persistent ? To clarify, it's not the rejection that gets me it's a sentimental attitude towards sex and women that keep me in my comfort zone. Thanks
My long term goal in this is a steady partner which I think is the root of my issue. I am very sentimental.
