I know when it comes to dancing / dance floor game, the general consensus advice is to "not give a fuck, have fun". For me at least, that's extremely easy to tell yourself, but always seemed much harder in practice. Of course this is what you're SUPPOSED to do, but literally I found myself falling into the same routine every weekend: I'd go out, hit the dancefloor for a bit, then find a way to talk myself out of it and back to the safety and confines of the bar. I'd tell myself "I look like an idiot", or "This song sucks anyway", basically any excuse I could find to stop dancing because it felt weird and I thought everyone was judging me.

So, I started thinking about other things I was previously apprehensive about looking dumb about, and I realized that a dancefloor is really not that much different from a gym

Hear me out for a second. Before I started going to the gym, I was always concerned I'd look like an idiot, or that the bigger stronger guys there would laugh at me and humiliate me in front of all the hot girls. Well it turns out, that no one in the gym gives a flying fuck what you're doing, they're too busy focusing on their workout and what they are doing. In the absolute worst case scenario, some choad shoots you a dirty look. So what? Does that impact your life the moment your workout ends or step outside of the gym? No. So you get in the gym, learn, get better, and realize that you had yourself completely psyched out for nothing. If you're not hitting the gym, [you should be] (http://reddit.com/r/fitness).

The same logic applies on a dance floor. Generally, most people out there are so preoccupied with dancing/having fun themselves, that even the most awkward, whitest guy out there flailing around on the floor usually wont attract more than a passing glance, if that. When was the last time you saw a group of people stop what they were doing, point and laugh at someone clowning it up on the dancefloor? Seriously, I've made it a point to keep improving over the last few weeks, and the absolute worst I've seen so far is a few looks of contempt from some bitches on the dancefloor. Even then, those small amounts of visible negative reactions have been far outweighed by the positive experiences and even lays that can come with adding dancefloor prowess to your article. Once you realize that it's not all about you, and everyone out there is focused on having fun, and not what a shitty dancer you are (you aren't btw), it really helps you put things in perspective and let go out there, which leads to you improving as a dancer, which makes you want to hit the dancefloor more, and so on..

So yeah, that girl that shrugged you off on the dancefloor, she's not that different at all from the douchebag uber brah at the gym. Both of their opinions mean shit, and both of their opinions mean nothing the moment you step off the floor. You can get in the gym, why can't you get on the dancefloor?
