For the record, I don't know if anyone's ever said anything like this before. But if it has, don't judge me.

Anyways, so I'm watching the Giants/D-backs pregame and a Brandon Belt (a particularly timid player who strikes out a lot without swinging the bat) interview came up and he mentioned how he's hoping to be more confident this year and finally become an effective hitter.

Then it dawned on me that approaching a woman and talking to her is a lot like batting in baseball. The way I see it when you're hitting there are only three options: hit, miss, or to not swing at all; and it's more or less the same outcome when it comes to seduction. If you walk up to the plate with the fear of missing than you're probably going to take as many pitches as you can - and in the case of seduction, woman - simply because it's the safer route. However, if you're confident enough to where you feel as if you can hit a home run every time you're up than you're most likely going to be a better overall hitter.

In other words, when it's your turn to bat and you're not willing to take chances then you're probably not going to be a very successful baseball player and in the seduction community if you're not willing to risk some pride to fail with a women (swiiiinnnngg and a misssss) than you're not going to gain any pride because you won't be picking up any woman (a home run in this case). Take Barry Bonds for example. He was one of the most feared hitters in baseball and rarely struck out looking but if he did it'd probably be swinging. He was extremely well posed in the box and went yard on some of the best pitchers in baseball. So all I'm saying is that you NEED to just say fuck it and swing the damn bat.

This idea has more or less been said a thousands times but I thought the baseball metaphor could interest those are fans. In any case go Giants and happy baseball season!

tl;dr - Be Barry Bonds, not Brandon Belt - go out there and take a fucking chance.
