LyingPervert isn't lying. In one way your stress over prom is good because it shows you care about being on point. On the other hand allowing yourself to be this stressed is limiting your ability to think clearly.

To approach wallflowers, physically go toward them and strike up casual conversation. You don't need to have killer conversation topics to get people talking. As an ex-wallflower I can guarantee you that they are all waiting for someone to talk to them, be that person.

You are going to look sharp no-matter-what. It's that simple: at prom, everyone looks beautiful to everyone. MFA is great, but a common misconception is that it needs to be followed religiously. Wear what you want to wear, not just what some internet hivemind says is the epitome of style (although MFA is pretty damn slick).

I suggest reading the very last paragraph of this post. Maybe I'm wrong to assume your age, but the point is that you aren't "missing" anything. In other words, you already are capable of producing the results you want.

Without going through your post history, it seems like you have done plenty of reading here on good 'ole Seddit. Keep in mind that the most important part of what we as a community aim to do here is to develop inner game. Build a strong personal inner game and you'll be surprised at how fast you can learn from every day encounters or larger events like this.

TL;DR It really comes down to stress. Everyone on the planet knows what it's like to be stressed over something, but not many know how to release the stress in a timely manner. The choice is yours to hold on to this stress and attend prom feeling constantly nervous, or release the stress and find confidence in your ability to be great. Stay pumped dude, your prom is going to be awesome because you can make it that way.

Last year I went to prom and was so obsessed with it being perfect that everyone had a great time except me. My date was gorgeous and I ended up resenting her.

Have fun, let go, have a drink (but not too much).

Don't give a fuck and have fun. Don't be afraid to approach and ask girls to dance. Everyone there just wants a good time, and girls would love it if a guy randomly asked them to dance.

I know this sounds like boasting but I'm one of the most popular guys in my school and imnot going to prom. There's 1000 kids in my senior class alone.
