Hey all, I'm still trying to get the reddit formatting down so if I fuck up, call me on it and tell me how to change it (I'd rather have a criticism then a compliment).
Some Inner Game Stuff I have noticed that really works:
Ah the power of numbers- My roommate is the barebones stereotypical AFC. He pines over women and when one shows interest in him he showers them with so much affection that they run and hide. I know this because I seem to be his go to guy for women advice....... the curse of all this.
Recently, I was trying to coach him through a "courtship" of this girl he liked. I saw he was coming on strong and I told him simply, start talking to another girl. He was very confused about this and said but I like (lets call her OHA: object of his affection), I said, "exactly" and you are scaring her away because all of you attention is on her and you don't know how to pull back that attention and make her work for it and intrigue her. I tried to explain the cat-string-theory; he didn't get it. So, that night we went on Facebook (don't judge me) he told me he had always had a secret crush on this one girl (FBgirl) from back home. I told him "message her and ask her how she had been". My theory was, she is back at home, they can't see each other in person, this will be a great distraction from OHA. He did, they started messaging then texting. I would like to say that the plan worked and he was successful with OHA but he wasn't, but it wasn't for showering her with affection. The more he got into FBgirl, the less attention he was showing OHA. OHA started texting him, she had gotten addicted to the attention she was getting from him, he came back at OHA with more affection than before and blew the whole thing..........
In summation: If you find that you are developing strong feelings for a girl and getting one-itis, the best thing to do is start talking to another girl, you will naturally shift attention away from the original girl. Many of us on this subreddit don't have that issue as the goal is to talk to as many girls as possible, but for those just starting out..... I feel like this is a good piece of advice.
Use your fear; dont lose your fear-
A lot of posts I've read advocate for losing your fear of approaching and talking to women. Why? don't lose that fear, USE IT. I read a lot a Gerry Spence, he writes books on becoming a better attorney in the court room by using your fear as an alley and not an enemy. It starts by admitting you are afraid and channeling that fear, there really isnt much of a trick to it. You just use that feeling in your stomach, the one you feel when you are in the grip of fear and channel it through your whole body. Use the fear as a stepping stone, breath, smile and for the love of god make your feet take you to that girl and just say, Hi.
"Fear is our ally. Fear confirms us. Fear is energy that is convertible to power-our power.
If you feel your fear, you can also feel it’s power, and you can change it’s power to your power." -Gerry Spence
Enough of that
READING LIST: Here are some books you probably never heard of but should read anyway:
Social Intellegence by Daniel Goleman: it breaks down the science of how people interact and how peoples emotions effect one another. subconciously. Basically, it's how people interact on the surface and how people communicate on a whole other level: the way the brain takes in very small things we don't notice (but we really do) like body language, small facial movements, smell. The most interesting point of this book is how people can project an amotion onto another person. I've found this to have a lot to offer to the game we all play.
1000 karat bathroom room reader- Its a book filled with alot of different facts and antidotes. Women are turned on by intellegence..... if you dont have it fake it, memorize some useless facts and anecdotes, it makes you seem smarter than you are. Also, if you are agood conversationalist, this will make sure you never run out of things to talk about.
Newser.com: all the current news stories in one place and condensed..... Educate yourself
Aziz Anisari's inview on AV.com....... For those wondering about the way technology can and is playing into social interaction...... he breaks it down pretty well.
