Perhaps it's the whole indie/hipster/androgyny culture, or the pendulum swinging from macho/masculine guys to more harmless effeminate guys... but I've consistently seen girls fawning over the awkward, fidgety, feminine, overly-dramatic, attention-seeking, middle-child types over the last several years.

I personally don't like to change myself to fit some false paradigm, whether that means becoming either a douchey/overly-macho type or an effeminate drama queen hipster type. However, when I experience girls going for either of the two extremes, it can get a little obnoxious when I know that I'm equally, if not more, cultured/creative/intelligent/worldly (or masculine/confident/fit, for the converse), but don't fit the lifestyle or superficial character traits of the movie some girls think they're living in.

Anyone else have some insight on this phenomenon...? Do you find that less physically attractive guys get away with this too, or just the more physically attractive guys (who can get away with anything)?
