Newbie. Social question.
So I had to meet someone today at the school library for a short meeting. I stayed afterward to do some study and thought I'd just do a random approach just for the to heck of it and wake up my senses a little. My intention was just to do an indirect approach and chit chat a little, no pickup. Headed over to the general group lounge area, and picked a table where a girl was sitting and sat down. Turned and started with an indirect approach.
"Hi. Excuse me, would you mind if I borrowed your laptop charger for a bit, my macbook is low on battery". She turned and I quickly realized I might have opened the wrong girl. I'm 80% sure (like I said - newbie) she's like in the middle of crying silently, teary eyes, kind of flushed, sniffing nose. "Sure". She pulled out her charger for me to borrow.
"Thanks." and I just proceeded to prep my study stuff. In my mind though, I wasn't sure how to approach this. I hesitated for like a 5min before I pulled out some paper and wrote, 'Hey, correct me if I'm wrong, but you look a bit shaken up... I just had to ask, are you ok?". I passed her the note. She took a second to read and gave me a quick smile and said "I'm ok."
Just hindsight question. Was there anything I could have done differently?
