You mess with her.

When you mess with her you break the comfort while maintaining the trust because even if you make her a little uncomfortable, as long as she knows you're just joking around she'll know that she can still trust you with serious stuff.

That plus having a sense of when you're getting too annoying means that you'll still be able to maintain the relationship while having playful tension there.

(If you don't know what to do when you start to annoy her, the answer is to simply go back to building comfort.)

Now, playful tension is not platonic. Playful tension is essentially flirting.

Especially if she tries to mess with you in return, that means she wants to keep that vibe going between the two of you.

Why avoid the friend zone?

I assure you, if you want something long term with her, being genuinely friendly and not desperate is the way to go. If she’s attracted to you as much as you are to her, the romance will grow organically out of the friendship you’ve nurtured.
