Balancing school and social life?

It's a tough one. I was a technical major in college as well. And honestly I was not all that motivated to really put in the effort at the time regarding academics. With my personal and social life in shambles, I felt I had more pressing issues to deal with. I devoted myself primarily to getting good with women and making connections with close friends. My academics suffered. I did not get an internship in all of college. I got better with women, and gained the ability to do some things seduction wise that I could probably never have imagined I had in me. Same with friendships, at times I was able to trust some individuals and honestly converse with them about my troubled past and it felt like putting down a huge burden. I felt. maybe, like I was Atlas, shrugging.

I managed to scrape through college with a pretty shitty GPA. There is little to no chance I will be able to go to a good grad school, but it's not like I want to, at least for now. I have a job I am personally satisfied with that pays 50k+. It took a while to get this job, and it was not easy for sure. My parents were gracious enough to allow me to live with them while I searched. There was a chance I could have dropped out. I could have had a whole lot more trouble getting a decent job. I could possibly have been on the streets.

I took a major risk by reshuffling my priorities. I am lucky, to be honest, that I am not in a far worse situation at the moment.

I don't know what the answer is for you, but I hope my experience helps a little. There is no right or wrong. It will be difficult to find the balance that is suited to you, and will always have to be tweaked and wrestled with. Good luck.

No advice here, as I am in the same boat! I'm in EE, and just last semester I got into too much of a party mood for a few weeks before finals and nearly screwed myself over because I lost the drive to study. This semester, I am trying to "maximize both polarities" or what everyone quotes as "work hard, play hard." Simply saying that discipline will do the trick is a rather tall order for me, so luckily some of the more self-developmental material I've read here on Seddit is helping me conquer procrastination, motivation issues and the like.

With that said, I'll be lucky if I can do some worry-free partying on a Friday or Saturday night without serious repercussions on a Sunday trying to buckle down for that Monday lab or midterm, week after week on a consistent basis, but that'll be my goal for now.
