Hello Seddit. Recent posts on this sub asking for help with women have been made by beginners, so I've decided to write up my beginner's guide to Tinder to help the newbies out.
Scope
This is not a guide for someone who can regularly get a number from the app and convert into a date. This guide isn't going to get you laid after a single date. This guide isn't going to increase your match rate to 100%.
This is a guide for a complete and total newbie who hasn't been able to convert a Tinder match into a meetup with their current methods. This is a guide for people who are using Tinder in an earnest effort to meet new people that they enjoy spending time with.
My personal bias for how best to screen girls will be extremely apparent in this guide. I prioritize meeting up with girls that I genuinely want to get to know and develop an emotional connection with rather than girls who are dtf after a few messages over text.
1. Profile
Your profile determines the kind of girl you screen for. Here is what I do to increase the likelihood of matching with a girl I would be open to connecting with:
a) Pictures
My first picture captures my favorite aspects of my personality. Currently, I use a picture of myself wearing a tshirt with my favorite band's logo on it and a cat sitting on my shoulders. My logic behind my first picture is "if someone were to swipe right on me just by looking at a single picture, what attributes would I want to convey about myself?". Every other picture captures an aspect of my personality that I either mention in my bio or consider important. Pictures are the best way to convey personality on Tinder pre-match.
b) Bio
I list a few things that I am in my first couple of lines (e.g. 'Spanish', 'Writer', etc.). Then, I list hobbies and activities I enjoy and regularly engage in. Finally, I round off my bio with my music preferences. A good bio will reinforce your photos, convey your personality, and screen for women you won't connect with.
2. Swiping
The shitty reality of Tinder is that you get a limited amount of right swipes per day. To maximize success (matching with women that you can connect with), I employ the following rules:
a) If I'm not physically attracted to her, I swipe left. This seems like a no-brainer when typed out, but I know many guys who will swipe right if they think they have a chance of getting laid with the girl, regardless if they're attracted to her or not.
b) If she has no bio, I swipe left. I put effort into my profile, which means that I screen against people who don't. If their bio is just an instagram/snapchat/venmo/etc. and nothing else, I also swipe left. If I can't hook onto any aspect of their personality from their bio I swipe left.
c) If the personality conveyed through her bio doesn't excite me, I swipe left (e.g. 'country girl who loves baseball, fishing, and trucks'). No reason to waste a right swipe on a woman I know I won't connect with.
These methods ensure that I use my limited right swipes on women who I have a possibility of forming an emotional connection with.
3. Conversation
The mantra of success on Tinder is '#-close asap'. You can't build attraction, comfort, etc. through text, much less through something as transient and fickle as Tinder. My strategy is the following:
a) Establish a connection through something in her bio. Since I screen for women I connect with this is easy (e.g. with a girl who said they're into kink in their bio "what kind of kinky sex are you into?", for a girl who had a microscope emoji in her bio "how about I teach you how to use an electron microscope?").
b) Ask for her number using something like the following: "You seem like the kind of girl I'd get along with. Let's trade numbers and meet for coffee next week."
If the girl is at all interested in meeting up, this results in her giving me her number. Then, I immediately schedule a meetup after introducing myself over text:
Me: "It's Endoss, your favorite scientist extraordinaire"
Her: "Hello :)"
Me: "I'm kind of a busy guy, let's get coffee at [time] on [date] at [place]" (usually I schedule dates 1-2 weeks in advance)
Her: "Sounds good"
This method has a 100% success rate in terms of meetups, with a sample size of 4 over the past month. That may not seem like a lot, but when considering that Tinder is a supplement to your social life, the number doesn't seem so low. I have not yet encountered a girl who flaked on me while using this method.
4. Conclusion
Hope this helps those who have been struggling to get dates over Tinder. I am open to any questions, comments, criticisms, and concerns, as long as they address specific sections of my post. I freely admit that I am not a seduction expert, and that I still have a lot to develop about myself. The method I outline above works for me, and so far has produced results that have brought me happiness.
