"In order to have confidence/courage I have to be good in something (I don't know what I'm good at)"

Firstly, your friend isn't wrong. Confidence comes from being good at something and having self-worth. So what do you do? Find a hobby or take classes in something that you can use for the rest of your life. An example is working out, martial arts, learning a language or learning a new instrument. And get good at it. If anything, just work out. There are so many benefits to it, including confidence and looking ripped. Personally, I go to the gym and take martial arts. I can also sing, but that's just something I do in the car than for actual legit reasons (nothing on stage or whatnot). I've had a couple dates compliment me on my singing when I drive them around to wherever. And it's awesome.

"I will scare the girls if I touch them"

That comes from your insecurity. Insecurity comes from low self-worth. Your friend doesn't respect himself. And why doesn't he respect himself? He's a loser. Sorry, but it's the truth. Only losers do that. But how do you become a 'winner'? Start developing yourself physically, socially, mentally and financially. You will gain a sense of self-worth and self-respect once you know you are successful. Success creates confidence. Confidence rids yourself of insecurity.

Girls are only scared of losers that touch them. Not winners. I can walk up to girl and just poke her belly and go "Hmm..." then walk away. That's the difference.

"They have to like me as I am"

I have so many gripes about this statement. Firstly, saying this is the acceptance of the mediocre. NEVER accept the mediocre. As a man, you must ALWAYS improve yourself. Women only like men who are not lazy. Get good habits, develop yourself, and the women will follow. "Just be yourself" is the WORST advice the media has given men. If being yourself is being a successful, 6'0 tall, ripped, socially successful and rich dude? Sure. That works. But if you're some fat slob playing video games in his mom's basement? Nope. Change yourself. Improve yourself.

"I don't know how to be funny"

Sorry bud, but this is something you have to experience for yourself. No one can really teach you to be funny. You have to learn the social cues: Know when to shut the fuck up, when to talk, and when to listen.

I've seen guys say the most stupidest shit and still get girls. How? Because their body language and vocal tonality shows confidence.

You can't make a half-ass joke otherwise you just look like a fucking creep. Don't make jokes and then 'take it back'. For example:

[You're in a set of 5 people and your target interrupts your story]

"Wow, didn't you learn to raise your hand before talking in grade school?"

After you say something like that, don't say "Oh sorry! It was a joke!" You just fucking killed all attraction. Taking shit back shows insecurity. It shows you didn't commit to it and are afraid of insulting the girl (essentially pedestalizing her).

He does need to be intresting, so being good at something is a start. Anything will do but it should be something that he wants to learn and enjoys so doing it becomes part of his daily routine. Learn to speak a new language, art, some sort of physical activity.

Touching girls, as long as you have talked to them and have gotten to know them and have made them feel comfortable then you can touch them at least in neutral body locations, (see kino side bar)

He need to like himself and enjoy his life as he wants to. Then he can find like minded women, that enjoy the same thing he likes and starting a conversation become easier
