I'm a strong enemy of texting, especially when it's about important things. Texting is unnatural communication: Humans need to hear the voice and see the face, the body language, when it comes to erotic you even need to take smelling the other party into account.

I do believe you should call to set dates, like Corey Wayne recommends.

However, recently I've met a woman who seemed interested (asking me personal questions, handing out the phone number without hesitation, commenting on my profile picture). A while later I called her, she didn't pick up and since then nothing happened.

So now you can see the situation from two different angles:

  1. A friend of mine who knows her suggested that calling her irritated her and calling is not normal today anymore. Generation WhatsApp wants text messages
  2. I on the other hand believe that she's just not that interested. Otherwise she would at least have send a message, i.e. "Hey I was busy. What did you want?". A woman who's interested will be excited that you tried to reach out to her and reciprocate

So now I have the dilemma of judging what the truth is. I can't believe that text messages are a good thing, the base of human communication was founded hundreds of thousands years ago, it doesn't change within 20 years – plus many of the conflicts between friends in 2018 have been caused by people misinterpreting text messages, which include far too few information for proper human communication. On the other hand however texting indeed is the norm today, and people like Corey Wayne are a different generation.

What do you think?
