I've noticed that movies, television, and books portray a fantasy version of romance. I mean the love at first sight sort of thing, but also just human interaction in general. That's where a lot of AFC's come from, I think. I know I've had a tendency to imagine my own relationships and seduction like some fantasy love that I'd write about, and that has ruined things (especially when you think everything has to have a poetic meaning and that you must prove and fulfill it).

That said, I'm kind of lost on my journey to learn how to be a more charismatic person. I'm having some trouble knowing what right looks like, and everything I've learned is becoming a jumbled mess with my old habits. I was wondering if we could point out and evaluate characters that are deemed attractive, that they may be used as guidelines for what to do and what not to do. Am I making sense?

I'm personally really curious about the character Sir Percy Blakely (Leslie Howard) of the 1934 The Scarlet Pimpernel. As far as having charm goes, what did he do right, and what did he do wrong? Is the character charming merely because the writer tells us to perceive him that way, or does he actually possess charming qualities?

I hope I've made sense.
