Cold Approaches

Cold approaches are basically just shooting blindly and hoping you'll hit something. They're useful for getting over your anxiety, but I don't know anyone who has much serious success with them. One cold opener is really as good as any. Warm approaches, on the other hand, (i.e. approaches where a girl gives you some indication that she's interested, either by meeting eye contact with you and smiling, laughing along with something you said, or leaving an opener for you in some way) are really the best way to go.

I'd recommend having a bit more back-and-forth before asking them to get lunch. Don't make the mistake of assuming the girl is great before getting to know them. If she says no, you'll feel bad about yourself cause in your mind, "someone of high value just rejected me, oh no!".

Also, don't use the same line over and over. Practice saying whatever comes to mind instead of a canned line, even if it is a very natural sounding line. Why? You'll get better faster, and it's less boring after a few dozen approaches.

The point of doing loads of cold approaches is so it will become routine and you won't show outward signs of nervousness, and so you will be outcome independent (meaning the rejections have minimal affect on you).

You will be more successful with complete cold approaches if you don't immediately open by asking for a number or instadate. You have a chance to build attraction before putting her on the spot. The reasons for doing them (at least for me) is because it kills the scariness for me, and it helps me calibrate my own style according to what fits my personality.

Doing cold approaches is essential for me. I learned so much from them, I was able to think on my feet much quicker. There is no game for me without cold approaches, I love them and I hate them.

Dont forget about using a false time constraint during cold approaches. That lets them rationalize the strangeness of your approach, "He's doing this because he has somewhere to go, and we may never see eachother again. Hm..."
