I've read both Models by Mark Manson and How to be a 3% Man by Corey Wayne and although they provide similar advice in certain areas, sometimes they seem to contradict each other and essentially have a different approach to attracting women in general.

  • Models takes a more self-help approach where you improve yourself and overcome your insecurities about women, and in the process you become more attractive.
  • How to be a 3% man encourages the use of "tricks and tactics", which kinda falls into the "Pick-up Artist" that is criticized in Models, which encourages being the best version of yourself than having to rely on strategies like "wait 3 days before texting" and trying to make seduction into a science (attraction charts).

This is pretty ambiguous and I think the points made in both of the books are valid, but what really is confusing is this:

  • Models states that asking questions a needy behavior that demonstrates that you are more invested in her than she is in you, and that she should be asking you questions in the conversation.
  • Corey Wayne's book, on the other hand, says that you should be the one asking questions, and that when you are asked personal questions to reply in simple, one-word answers when possible. His argument is that a man who opens up in the beginning takes away the mystery and is no longer interesting.

Additionally,

  • Although Models doesn't state this as fact, it seems to suggest that you should always be the one pursuing and women will never come to you. It asserts that when you find someone attractive unless you talk to her nothing will happen.
  • Wayne's book is less black and white on this topic. He brings up the possibility of women being attracted to you, and how in the past before he "figured out women" there would be girls attracted to him that he had no interest in.

I happen to relate more with Corey Wayne's book. It might be cause of personal background, as I'm still in school. What really hit home is when Wayne mentioned that because his parents were not good lovers (never said "I love you" to each other, didn't kiss or hold hands). I realized that my parents had been like that as well, and I guess that may have influenced me as well. Don't get me wrong, Models is a great book, and it helped me overcome many of my insecurities and gave me the confidence to be myself, but I think my past experiences are more similar to Corey Wayne's. I've had girls become intersted in me, but I had zero interest in all of them. I think because I had no interest in them I was able to talk to them freely and just be myself, and that was what attracted them. Where I have trouble is with girls I am attracted to. Maybe it's just because I'm introverted, but I like the idea of girls become attracted to me without having to talk to them, because when I know they are interested I would have no problem talking to them.

But what do you guys think? Who's advice do you think is more effective, especially when it comes to conversations?
